Cloud Security Considerations
Newly emerging technology will have new emerging risks. We want to help mitigate those challenges facing security professionals today. Specifically, we want our work to help facilitate the privacy of intellectual property and confidentiality of data within cloud solutions. Therefore, as you consider cloud storage options focus should be maintained on the confidentiality aspect of the CIA triad in order to identify the concerns with protecting the privacy of data within the cloud environment.

As an emerging technology, cloud computing has been defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as a “…model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction” (Mell, 2009).
The shift within companies toward cost effective cloud solutions guarantees that security and privacy will be a concern for some time. As security professionals we must know and understand the security risks associated with cloud computing and we attempt to address those concerns with professional services designed to evaluate and advise.
